Orthodontics
Orthodontia is the specialty of dentistry that is concerned with the treatment of improper bites and crooked teeth.Orthodontic treatment can help fix the patient's teeth and set them in the right place. Orthodontists usually use braces and clear aligners to set the patient's teeth.
Self-ligating braces are a revolutionary treatment option that provides greater comfort, reduces treatment times and requires fewer appointments. This treatment meets our standard of care and is the only type of metal braces we offer. It provides a low-friction, light force to move teeth into place with optimal control to provide greater comfort and better results.
Traditional metal braces are the most common type of braces. They are made of high-grade stainless steel, or a combination of stainless steel and titanium, making them very strong and able to withstand most treatments. These small metal brackets, which can be either silver or gold, are attached to each tooth using a specialized dental glue or dental composite resin that contains fluoride to assist in the prevention of tooth decay or caries.
are the same size and shape as metal braces, except that they have tooth-colored or clear brackets that blend in to teeth. Some even use tooth-colored wires to be even less noticeable. Pros: Less noticeable than metal braces; move teeth much faster than clear plastic aligners (Invisalign)
Invisalign Braces are one of the newest brace types on the market. These are not braces like you are used to. Invisalign Braces are not permanent rather they are plastic clear retainers that are worn. This type of braces is most often used for those who have a simple case of crooked teeth.
Fixed retainers also may be called permanent or bonded retainers, but they all mean the same thing- this is a retainer you’ll never have to worry about leaving behind in a restaurant or school cafeteria because you can’t remove it on your own. Fixed retainers sometimes can be placed on the back of your upper front teeth, but the bonding material can interfere with your bite, so this is less common.
A Hawley Retainer is a removable brace made from plastic and stainless steel wire. This type of retainer is used to keep teeth straight after the fixed brace is removed.
